Warrior Affiliate League in Association with BANG Energy Drinks presents:

BEASTS & BARBELLAS is a 2-person (MM/FF/MF) Functional Fitness Team Competition for athletes of all skill levels.

Get in on the FUN! and test your skills in preperation of the CF OPEN! If you are new to CF, this is a great first comp.   Don’t miss your chance to compete in this Epic team event!  Grab a friend and build your power team.

Entry fee covers: Team entry fee for 2 persons, (2) Event T-shirts, (1) Team Name Plate, 3 Workouts with 6-7 separate scored events, and lots of FUN with the fitness community.


One person registers and pays for the team (team captain). Have team members’ names, emails, shirt sizes, birthdates, etc. available when registering.

THERE ARE NO REFUNDS OR TRANSFERS TO FUTURE EVENTS. NO EXCEPTIONS. Athlete substitution accepted up until event day, by having your new athlete sign your team waiver prior to start of event.

5 Divisions


Teams consist of 2 people (MM/FF/MF)

  • Men’s Advanced (MM)
  • Men’s Scaled (MM)
  • Men’s Masters (MM 40+)
  • Mixed Pairs (MF)
  • Women’s Scaled (FF)

ADVANCE – Able to perform weight loads and gymnastic movements without scaling. Minimum requirements: Snatch 155#, C+J 185#, Deadlift 275#, Bar Muscle Ups, Handstand Walk/HSPU, Toes 2 bar, Chest 2 bar pull ups.

SCALED – Moderate/Light Weight-loads, with modified gymnastics movements. Minimum Requirements: Snatch 115#/65#, C+J 135#/85#, Deadlift 185#/155#, Wall walks, Toes 2 bar, chin-over bar pull up.

MIXED PAIRS – Hybrid co-ed division in which weight-loads are slightly heavier than Scaled but lighter than Advanced. At least one person on team must be able to perform Bar Muscle Ups, Handstand Push-ups, Toes 2 bar, Chin-over bar pull ups.

MASTERS (40+) – Teams of (2) men, both athletes must by 40 y.o. or older. Minimum requirements: T2B, C2B Pull Ups, Handstand Push-ups, Snatch 135#, C+J 155#, DL 225#.

WORKOUT 1 - Chip off the Block - Events 1, 2

PART A – For time:

60 Wall Ball Shots (10FT)

PART B – With remaining time, Max Reps

ADV/MIXED: Bar Muscle Ups,
Scaled/M40+: Pull ups

Workout Description: On 3-2-1… Go! A1 will enter GRID, while A2 waits at the start line. Team will perform chipper in order as written above, 60 WBS, then 50 DB snatches, 40 T2B, 30 burpee BJO. Only one person may work at one-time. Athletes may tag out at any time during the workout. Once the final BBJO is completed, time will be recorded. Then with remaining, Teams will perform as many repetitions as possible of Bar Muscle Ups (ADV/MIX) or chin-over bar pull ups (scaled/M40+).
Scoring: WOD 1 has 2 separate scores (E1) fastest time to complete chipper, and (E2) total repetitions MUs/Pull ups.
Time cap: 10 minutes.

WORKOUT 2 - DT Quickie - Event 3

9 Deadlifts
6 Hang Cleans
3 Shoulder to Overhead

Scaled/M40+ 115/65#
MIXED 105#
– 1 minute transition, then WORKOUT 3 –

Workout Description (WOD 2) – Teams will have (1) single pre-loaded barbell to share. On 3-2-1…Go! A1 will enter GRID, while A2 waits at a designated area. Team will perform as many rounds/repetitions as possible of 9 DL, 6 Hang Cleans, 3 S2OH, in that order. Only one person may work at one time. Athletes may tag in/out at any time.
Score: Total repetitions performed within the time cap.
Time cap: 5 minutes.

WORKOUT 3 - Beast MODE - Events 4, 5

In 6 minutes, Teams must find

Heavy 2RM Thruster (A1), and 1RM Clean + Jerk (A2)
Between WOD 2 and WOD 3, there will be a 1 Minute Transition period. Teams may preload the barbell at this time. 

Workout Description (WOD 3) On 3-2-1…Go! A1 will perform a 2-Rep Max Thruster, while A2 will find a heavy 1-Rep Max C+J. Teams will have 6 minutes total (shared) to find their heavy respective lifts. Athletes may perform lifts in any order as they desire. Athletes must perform a different movement from their teammate (No two athletes may perform the same lift movement).

(E4) Heaviest successful lift of 2RM Thruster
(E5) Heaviest successful 1RM C+J
Time cap: 6 minutes.

WORKOUT 4 - FLOATER - Events 6, 7

Perform as many repetitions as possible in 6 minutes:

Part A – Max CAL Rower (A1)
Part B – Max Sled push (A2)

Workout Description: A1 will begin on the rower, while A2 will be at the sled. On 3-2-1…Go! A1 will perform Calorie Row, and A2 will perform Max sled pushes. PART A and Part B will be performed at the same time. Athletes may switch any time during the workout.

(E6) Total calorie ROW
(E7) Total distance Sled push
Time cap: 6 minutes.
With WOD 4 being a FLOATER, Teams are responsible to perform and schedule this event during the designated floater window time frame and will not conflict with their other scheduled workouts. Teams who miss the floater cut-off time deadline, will receive a ZERO for both Part A and B. No exceptions.
