WHAT?

WAR of the ROSES is a 4-person, co-ed (2 Men and 2 Women), functional fitness team competition for athletes of all skill levels. Test your fitness, strength, and skills in GRID style competition at Chino CrossFit! $1000 cash purse up for grabs.

  • MASTERS 38+ All team members must be born in 1980 or earlier (If less than 5 teams registered, Masters teams will be placed into INT division)

  • FUN division only – Any gender combination (4-person team)

TO REGISTER:

One person registers and pays for the team (team captain). Have team members’ names, emails, shirt sizes, birthdates, etc. available when registering.

Event 1:  “PIT of DESPAIR” – 12 min AMRAP

PART A – MF Pairs

Athlete 1: 20  Clean and Jerks, while  Athlete 2 performs deadlift hold
Rx 155/105, INT 135/75, M38+ 135/85, FUN 95/ 55
A1: 30  Front  Squats, while A2 holds barbell in front rack position
A1: 15 Handstand push-ups, while A2 performs Handstand hold (see WOD description for INT/M38+/FUN –standards and movements)

PART B:  12 minute  AMRAP  –  Team Max Calorie Ski Erg

Workout Description: On 3-2-1 go M1/F1 pair will perform triplet, while M2/F2 pair will perform max CAL Ski Erg. Athletes may exchange at any time at any station. While performing the triplet, MF team will share rep scheme. A1 will perform clean & jerks, while A2 will hold barbell in the deadlift position. This will continue until 20 C+J are completed. For repetition to count, barbell must be off the floor.  A1 will perform front squats, while A2 hold barbell in front rack position. This will continue until 30 front squats are completed. Team will then perform handstand push-ups, while A2 holds handstand position against wall.  Intermediate or Masters Division will perform same movements as advanced division, with the addition of 1-abmat pad for men, and 2 abmat pads for women.  FUN division will perform hand-released push-ups and plank hold, instead of HSPU/HS holds.  This cycle will continue until time expires. Athletes may exchange at any time at any station throughout the entire workout, as long as M/F pairs are maintained throughout event (i.e. men sub-out with men, and women sub-out with women. Men cannot sub-out for women and vice-versa). Part A and Part B will be scored separately.

 

Event 2:   “VALYRIAN STEEL”

Part I:  MYSTERY WOD  – Be prepared for the unknown. Event details TBA on the day of the event.

– 1 minute transition –

Part II (3 min cap): 1 RM Snatch (M/M)

Part III (3 min cap): 3 RM Thruster (F/F)

Workout Description: Event 2 Part I is a Mystery Workout and will be announced on the day of the event. Be prepared for the unknown. Part II & Part III will begin after a 1 minute transition after the completion of Part I.

On 3-2-1..Go! Team will have 6 minutes total to find each respective max lift.   Each athlete will only get 3 attempts max to find their respective lift. The heaviest lift completed by both men will be combined to comprise team score for Part II.  The heaviest lift competed by both women will be combined to comprise score for Part III.  Event 2 will begin with Part I, which is a mystery workout, and will be announced on the day of the event.  Each event will be scored separately.

 

EVENT 3:  “WORM PYRAMID”

9  Worm Clean & Jerks
15  Worm Thrusters
21  Worm Burpees

Workout Description: On 3-2-1..Go! All 4 athletes will enter grid, pick up worm and perform 9 C+J. They will then perform 15 thrusters, then 21 burpees over the worm, then 15 thrusters, and then 9 C+J. Once all repetitions are completed, team will run to finish line. Time will stop once final team member crosses the finish line. Score is fastest time to complete chipper. Time cap 9 minutes.

EVENT 4:  “DILLY DILLY” –  DB SPEED LADDER – 2 rounds for time

15  Dumbbell Snatch, 35#   (Female 1)
9  Dumbbell Snatch, 50#   (Female 2)
15  Dumbbell Snatch, 70#   (Male 1)
9  Dumbbell snatch, 90#    (Male 2)

RX: 35#/50#/70#/90#, INT: 25#/35#/50#/70#, M38+: 35#/50#/60#/70#, FUN 15#/25#/35#/50#

Workout Description:
On 3-2-1..GO! F1 will perform 15 alternating DB snatches with designated weight, once 15 repetitions are completed F1 will tag F2 onto grid, and F2 will complete 9 Alt. DB snatches, then tag in M1. Once M1 completes 15 Alt. DB snatches, M1 will tag M2. M2 will complete 9 alt. DB snatches. This will repeat for a 2nd round.  Athlete must perform entire rep scheme for each particular weight before tagging out. Score is fastest time to complete 2 rounds. Time cap 5 minutes.
