BIG 3 2017

WHAT?

The BIG3 is a 3-person, same gender (MMM or FFF), functional fitness team competition for athletes of all skill levels. At and hosted by Chino CrossFit.

Whether your are new to CF, or a veteran crossfitter, this event is for YOU!  Get ready for the CF Open and test your strength and skills in the first competition of 2018.  Grab 2 friends and build your power team. Register early, this event will sell out fast.

Event 1: “AFTERBURN”

For time: (10 min cap)
50 Thrusters
24  burpee pull-ups
40 Thrusters

12  burpee pull-ups

ADV/Rx 135/95, burpee chest to bar pull-ups
INT 115/65, burpee chin-over bar pull-ups
FUN 95/45, burpee knee-ups

Description: On 3-2-1..GO! Team will perform 50 thrusters and share the work anyway that they choose, however, each athlete must complete 1-thruster during every round. Once the barbell is off the ground, barbell may not touch the ground until the set is complete. Once 50 thrusters are completed, team may then place barbell on ground and begin burpee pull ups. Pull-up standards will vary depending on your division (see standards for details). Once 24 burpee pull ups are completed, team will return to barbell and repeat couplet in round 2 as team with rep scheme 40 thrusters, followed by 15 burpee pull-ups, then round 3 with rep scheme 30 thrusters, followed by 12 burpee pull ups. Once all 12 reps of burpee pull ups are complete, team will race back to finish mat.  Time will stop once all teammates are on the finish mat. Only (1) athlete may work at one-time. Athletes may tag out and exchange at anytime.


Events 2/3/4/5: “Time Crisis”

EVENT 2 – Max distance sled push (3 minutes AMRAP)**

– 1 minute transition –

With a 6 minute running clock:
EVENT 3 –  Team  MAX CAL Bike    (6 minute AMRAP)*
EVENT 4 –  Team  MAX CAL Row      (6 minute AMRAP)*
EVENT 5 –  Team  MAX CAL Ski Erg  (6 minute AMRAP)*

*athletes will exchange every 2 minutes
** weights will be announced on day of event

Workout description: EVENT 2: 0n 3-2-1..GO! Team will push sled for distance turning sled every 20 yards for 3 minutes. Athletes may switch at anytime. After a 1 minute transition, EVENT 3/ EVENT 4/ EVENT 5 will immediately follow and occur simultaneously. A1 will start on the bike. A2 will start on the rower. A3 will start on Ski Erg. On 3-2-1..GO! Athlete will perform Max Calories. Athletes will exchange every 2 minutes until each athlete has performed on each apparatus. Score will be team max calories accumulated in 6 minutes for each apparatus, and will be scored separately.


Events 6: Axle Bar SPEED LADDER

Clean + Front Squat complex

Men: 70/ 90/ 110/ 130/ 140/ 150/ 160/ 180/ 200/ 225/ 240
Women: 40/ 50/ 60/ 70/ 80/ 90/ 100/ 110/ 120/ 130/ 140

Workout Description: On 3-2-1..GO! Team will have 50 seconds for each athlete to complete axle bar complex of 1 clean + 1 front squat. If all athletes complete complex in allotted time, team will then proceed to next bar at time of transition period.  If an athlete fails to complete complex, they will be credited for previous complex lifted, and will not be allowed to lift the next bar.  But remaining athletes who complete task will continue to the next bar.  This process will continue until they fail.  If an athlete reaches the last bar and completes complex, athlete may then perform MAX shoulder to overhead for tie breaker.  Tie breaker may only occur on final bar of ladder.  Score is sum of weight lifted by team. For example athlete 1 fails at 140# but completes 130#, athlete 2 fails at 200# but completes 180#, athlete 3 completes ladder to 240# and completes 9 shoulder to overheads for tie breaker, team score would read: 130#+180#+240+9=559. Team would be award 559 points total.
